What better way to celebrate July 4th than to buy a bunch of sparklers and take pictures with them? Well this weekend that’s what we did. If I want to do more wedding photography I need to know how to do sparkler photos since they are really popular and look great for the bride and groom portraits.
I’ve never photographed sparklers so this was an experiment that actually turned out pretty well. I have, however, done a project with glow sticks (at the time I couldn’t find sparklers). So from that project I knew the basics (small aperture and a long shutter speed).
I had help from some great people but there was a lot of ambient light and I didn’t have a very good tripod. So when we did sparklers I managed to do it a little better.
Again I had great people helping me and sparklers are awesome.
